Yuso strengthens leadership team, appoints Jean-Francois Steels as Head of Origination and Business Development
Yuso is pleased to announce that Jean-François Steels has joined its Management Team as Head of Business Development and Origination. In this role, Jean-François will drive the company’s international growth and lead efforts to expand Yuso’s leadership in the optimization of renewable and flexible energy assets across real-time electricity markets.

Founded in 2012 by Bart Pycke and Michel Verschuere, Yuso specializes in the aggregation, trading, and real-time optimization of renewable and flexible energy assets such as solar PV installations, batteries, and demand response systems. With a strong track record in Belgium and the Netherlands, Yuso is now expanding its presence into new European markets, helping to manage the increasing complexity of decentralized power systems and enabling the energy transition through smarter, more flexible electricity solutions.
Jean-François Steels brings over 20 years of leadership experience in energy and environmental markets. He spent 17 years at Mercuria, where he was a member of the Senior Management Team. During his time there, he successfully built the company’s carbon trading franchise, making Mercuria one of the most active traders of CO₂ credits globally, and led major initiatives in energy transition. Prior to Mercuria, Steels worked at Engie, where he collaborated closely with Bart Pycke and Michel Verschuere.
